Pasta With Shrimps, Brandy and Cream Sauce For A Romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner

Choosing recipe for Valentine’s Day to share with you was the easiest task ever! I believe, Italian pasta can conquer anyone, even the one with the coldest heart! Sounds fearless, right?

This Pasta With Shrimps, Brandy and Cream Sauce is so tender, smooth and extremely melting in the mouth, you can’t stop eating it! Attention! It may cause addiction! No joking. Make sure you’ve left some room for the chocolate dessert that comes later this week.

As you may have noticed in today’s pasta there is an impressive amount of shrimps. Believe me it is no coincidence! Shrimps are well-known aphrodisiacs. Isn’t it just what we need for Valentine’s Day?! Besides, shrimps are rich in protein and have less than 100 kcal in 100 g. It means that we’ll be able to satisfy our stomach and libido and we’ll manage to keep our figure in a good shape! Pure magic!

We should also know that shrimps are rich in other vitamins and minerals. They contain all the necessary amino acids for a good health. They have iodine for our thyroid gland, vitamins A,K, E, D. In addition to it, there are also potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, iron, cobalt, marganese, copper, molybdenum, fluorine, zinc, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B9 (folic acid), PP ( niacin), provitamin A (retinol), B-carotene. Doesn’t it look like the whole periodic table in one little shrimp? Pretty impressive for a small sea creature.

But I should warn you about a significantly high level of cholesterol found in shrimps. Make sure you won’t eat shrimps to death. I mean buckets of shrimps every single days. It might be a problem if you live by the sea or ocean. And I definitely envy you if you live there. I would rather struggle with sea food addiction than crave for it living in the middle of the mainland.

Anyways, I just wanted to wish you wonderful Valentine’s Day! Make someone happy with cooking dinner for that person! And, please, do not hate Valentine’s Day! I know, a lot of you do! Keep in mind it’ s just another perfect occasion to remind you of prioritizing love and affection in your life over other material things! Make love not war! Peace!

Pasta With Shrimps, Brandy and Cream Sauce

Serves 4
Prep time 5 minutes
Cook time 30 minutes
Total time 35 minutes

  • 30g salted butter
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 chopped shallots
  • 60g walnuts
  • 300g fresh shrimps (without shell)
  • 10 cocktail tomatoes (cut in quarters)
  • 60ml brandy
  • 250ml cream
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 400g fresh tagliatelle
  • 2 tablespoons parsley (freshly cut)
  • salt and pepper


1. Melt butter in olive oil in a large frying pan on low heat, sauté shallots together with walnuts for 2 minutes, stirring from time to time with wooden spoon.
2. Increase the heat up to medium, add shrimps and tomatoes, salt and pepper and heat up for 30 seconds.
3. Pour in brandy and cook for another minute till the alcohol evaporates.
4. Add cream and balsamic vinegar, heat up for 2 minutes, stirring from time to time. Put aside.
5. Cook tagliatelle al dente in a large sauce pan of salted boiling water. Drain off water.
6. Add cream sauce to tagliatelle, sprinkle with parsley and mix well together for 30 seconds. Serve immediately!
